The perils of parking profusion

Filed under: parking, research — Nancy Shore @ 9:25 pm

Apparently Ann Arbor isn’t the only city struggling with parking demand issues. Check out this interesting and insightful Salon.com article aptly titled “We paved paradise, so why can’t we find a place to park?”

Read. React. Discuss.

Volunteer for the getDowntown go!pass packet stuffing party!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Nancy Shore @ 2:43 pm

Hello all,

I just got my first RSVP for this exciting event so I wanted to put it out there for everyone to see.

As you may or may not know, go!passes are a huge part of what getDowntown does and it’s also a huge operation to get them out to people with all of the info they need.

So that’s where you come in.  Please join me and your fellow downtown workers for a go!pass packet stuffing party.

What: go!pass packet stuffing party
When: October 10th, 5-7pm
Where: Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce, 115 W. Huron, 3rd Floor (on the corner of Huron and Main enter on the Huron Street side of the building)
Food?: Of course!  We’ll have pizza or something else equally yummy.

Please let me know if you are able to attend by emailing me at nancy@annarborchamber.org

Yeah for bike lanes on Packard!

Filed under: biking — Nancy Shore @ 2:35 pm

In case you haven’t been over there lately, the construction on Packard is done.  And now there are bike lines on the other side of Stadium!  I just got to take them yesterday on my way to my Yoga Class.  Now although many people already ride on the street in that area, I think these bike lanes really reinforce the fact that bikes belong on the road and make it safer for everyone.  This is also nice for commuters coming from Packard to the downtown.
