Avoid Frosty Foot Syndrome while biking to work

Commute by bike has a very relevant post on avoiding cold feet while cycling.

Check it out here: Winter Cycling?  Don’t get cold feet.

And while randomly searching for stuff on the web I came across something that made me laugh, but may be old hat to you motorcyclists and hunters out there: Heated Socks .

I don’t know.  Something about a cord sticking out of a pair of socks just doesn’t sit well with me.

But as many winter cyclists know, cold feet are definitely no fun.  Personally, I like to wear insulated boots and nice warm wool socks.  That seems to do the trick.

What about you?

Ride Around Town (RAT) Dec 7th, 6:30, Lib Plaza

FYI:

Today there is a coating of slushy ice on neighborhood streets, and with a forecast suggesting that temperatures will remain near 30 all week, studded snow tires may be required for this Friday’s (Dec 7, 6:30 PM) ride.

I’ve not got a studded front tire, so I may not be able to hack it, but I’ll be at Liberty Plaza to start the ride and show off my new rat equipped helmet (flamingo is put away for the winter), then will meet any survivors at Ann Arbor Brewing Company after the ride.

No!  Don’t say it!  I’m not a weeny!  I just may not have the right equipment, and afterall, this is about riding safely, within your comfort zone, on city streets, with cars …. safely.

I posted a few flyers in the Kerrytown area.  We’ll see if the folks who congregate there will join us.  Hope to see you on Friday.  Heck, even if you can’t ride you can join me at AABC, right?  We could TALK about riding!  and where to get studded snows and such.

Remember …. Friday, Dec 7, 6:30 PM, Liberty Plaza.  AABC afterwards.  Let’s do it!
