Another good reason to take the bus: Snow!
It’s another snowy day in Ann Arbor. In times like these, I appreciate our bus system all the better. That’s because I have a little Honda Civic that is not really fit to drive in the snow. So today I took the bus and didn’t have to worry about driving in this mess.
Sure, the bus was a little late (about 8 minutes later than usual), but I already knew that before I walked out the door.
That’s because the AATA has real-time bus information for all it’s buses. To access that info, go to the AATA Routes and Schedules page and click on a route. As part of the info for that route, you will see where it is and if its running late (or early). This is especially nice if you have internet access on your PDA or phone so you can check the bus info while you are waiting at the stop.
It was great this morning. Picked up the #10 at the end of my street and hopped on the 7 a.m. #3 with not the slightest hassle. Read a magazine. Passed car traffic jams on Glazier Way hill and Fuller Rd. hill by the hospitals where cars could not get up the hill and were making U-eys to escape. It looked miserable and very unsafe, as opposed to toasty warm and extremely safe on the bus.
