Just FYI there’s an article on carpooling in the Ann Arbor News today.
Unfortunately, the article did not talk about the AATA’s rideshare website, which allows you to find a carpool or vanpool partner at the click of a button.
It’s called Michigan Rideshare and you can access it by clicking here

September 22 is World Car Free Day
We didn’t make a big deal of it this year, but I hope we can in the years to come.
While many of us have to drive most of the time, most of us can drive less some of the time.
Have you recently starting going car less or car lite? Let us know by posting a comment.
In the spirit of the day, I’d like to highlight a WEMU Issues of the Environment piece from June. The piece is an interview with Jeff Gaynor, a local school teacher who lives without a car in Ann Arbor.
According to a Crain’s Detroit Business article, a series of public meetings will be held in Sept and October to present the draft of Detroit’s regional transit plan.
This plan describes the plan to create a light rail down Woodward Ave, which would feed into other proposed routes, such as the Detroit to Ann Arbor rail line.
FYI:
Notice of Temporary Traffic Control Plan
Huron Parkway Bridge over the Huron River and Geddes Avenue
September 24, 2008 through September 25, 2008
Location and Limits of Affected Area:
Huron Parkway Bridge over the Huron River and Geddes Avenue between the Geddes/Fuller Road and Geddes Avenue Intersections
Description of Construction:
Grinding of concrete patches to provide a smooth riding surface
Temporary Construction Traffic Control Plan:
Beginning on September 24th and continuing through September 25th, we will be grinding some of the previously placed concrete patches in order to provide a smooth riding surface. This work is being done to comply with the project specifications.
We will be performing this work during non-peak hours (9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). We expect the work to take about one day to complete, but are planning for two days in case of inclement weather or other unexpected problems.
Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be maintained at all times during our work.
To maintain the safety of all, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through work zones. We thank you in advance for your patience as these necessary improvements to our road system are completed.
