Green Hero Award

Filed under: Commuter Challenge — Courtney M @ 12:18 pm

You’ve participated in the Commuter Challenge and gotten your co-workers all fired up. But you didn’t stop there. In addition to carpooling, walking and biking, you’ve gone green in other ways. You’ve recycled, you’ve reduced, you’ve reused, you’ve planted trees, your appliances are energy-efficient and you even use the spirally light bulbs. You’re asking yourself, now what? What else is there?

Well, there’s this: the Green Hero Award.

This year, getDowntown is introducing a special new component of the Commuter Challenge. The Green Hero Award will be awarded in recognition of an organization (or in special circumstances, an individual) who goes above and beyond the call of ordinary greening and enacts truly effective, inventive, and forward-looking policies, procedures, or technologies.

Think you know an individual or organization that fits the bill? Please send all nominations to courtney@getdowntown.org.

Nominations should include your name and contact information, and the name and contact information of your nominee, along with a brief (300-500 word) essay of why you’re nominating them. Descriptions of current and relevant past endeavors encouraged. All nominees must be located within the greater Ann Arbor area.

Deadline for submission: May 20th, 2009.
