When approaching a road hazard on a bike, the arc of any approaching car will be asymptotic to… you.
Sometimes I really wonder about this. I could be biking along an empty twelve-lane superhighway, and the one car on the road would somehow magically gravitate toward me precisely as I approach the broken bottle, the pothole, the half-incinerated couch.
I find that if I accept this tendency as a matter of natural law and learn to work with it, it makes my commute much safer and more pleasant.
Comment by Jim Reische — May 11, 2009 @ 4:29 pmWe are an office of only 3 people. Two of us are able to do the Commuter Challenge (our 3rd employee lives where there is no bus route and is too far for her to walk etc) We are having a blast doing it! Who knew we were competitive–we can’t wait to get in and log our commute. I typically bus/walk/bike to work 2 times a week but I’ve really stepped it up this month. I feel great and am appreciating my beautiful town even more this spring while working home from work.
