Construction impacts Route 15, 12A and 18

Route 15 Construction News

Road work will begin on W. Stadium Blvd. today at noon.

Route 15 buses will be detoured using the following routing:

Regular route to intersection of Pauline/Stadium – east on Pauline – resume regular route on Seventh

The detour is effective 3/2/10 at 12pm until further notice.

Route 12A and 18 Construction News

Beginning 3/4/10, Miller Rd. will be closed to westbound traffic between First and Chapin.

As a result, westbound routes 12A and 18 will be detoured using the following routing:

Regular route to intersection of Miller/First – south on First – west on Huron – north on Seventh – resume regular route on Miller:

Detour will be effective 3/4/10 until further notice.

Information for nearest stops in service will be posted at affected stops.

Stadium Boulevard east of Main Street and west of South Industrial is closed due to a water main break

If you normally use Stadium Blvd as part of your commute, you might want to watch out today.  The City reports that Stadium Boulevard east of Main Street and west of South Industrial is closed due to a water main break.

Notice of Temporary Traffic Control Plan
Traffic restriction for the demolition and removal of 1217 S. University
S. University (Church St. to S. Forest Ave.)
December 26 thru January 8th.

Location and Limits of Affected Area:
S. University between Church St. and S. Forest Ave.

Description of Construction:
Demolish and removal of building at 1217 S. University.

Temporary Construction Traffic Control Plan:
North half (westbound ) of S. University will be closed between Church St. and S. Forest Ave.

Westbound traffic will be detoured at S. Forest Ave. south to Willard St. then west on Willard to Church St. then North bound on Church St. back to S. University.

Eastbound traffic will be allowed at all times during demolition.

Pedestrian Traffic Control Plan:
Non Local Pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the sidewalk on the South side of S. University between Church St. and S. Forest.

During this construction the traffic may experience brief delays within the areas influenced by this work and along the detour route itself. To maintain the safety of all, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously in and around work zones.

E. LIBERY ST. (Division to Thompson)

Oct. 31 to Nov. 6, 2009

Location and Limits of Affected Area:

E. Liberty St. from S.Division Street to Thompson Steet.

Description of Construction:

Placement of water main at the intersection of S. Division St and E. Liberty Street

Temporary Construction Traffic Control Plan:

At S. 5th Ave the eastbound traffic on E. Liberty Street will be directed south on Fifth Ave., east on E. William Street , north on Thompson Street, and back on Liberty Street. The Westbound traffic on E. Liberty Street at Thompson Street will be directed south to E. William Street, west to S. Division Street and north on S. Division to E. Liberty Street.

Pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times.

During this construction the traffic may experience brief delays within the areas influenced by this work. To maintain the safety of all, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through work zones. We thank you in advance for your patience as these necessary public infrastructure improvements are completed.

Wednesday, Aug. 26 to Sunday, Aug. 30: Temporary Traffic Control Plan in Effect  on Division (Hill to Packard) and Madison (Fifth to Division)

Friday, Aug. 28 – Monday, Aug. 31: Temporary Traffic Control Plan in Effect  on State Street (Stimson to Oakbrook)

Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, noon to 7:30 p.m. (Dancing in the streets): South Main Street closed between Huron Street and Liberty Street; Washington Street closed between South Ashley Street and South Fourth Avenue.

Friday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. to Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1 a.m. (Oktoberfest): East Washington Street closed between South Main to the alley toward South Fourth Avenue.

S. Main, S. Ashley,& Londonderry Water Main Project
Construction June 8 to July 13, 2009

Location and Limits of Affected Area:
South Main Street from Packard Street to Adams Street.

Description of Construction:
In order to address water quality concerns, improve fire hydrant protection, and prevent continuity of service issues, we will be replacing the existing 6″ water main under the railroad tracks with new 8″ & 12″ diameter pipe on South Main & South Ashley Streets at the railroad tracks crossing.

Temporary Construction Traffic Control Plan:
Travel will be reduced to two lanes (one northbound and one southbound) during the construction. Two-way traffic and driveway access will be maintained at all times.

Pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times.

During this construction the traffic may experience brief delays within the areas influenced by this work. Detour signs will be posted for this construction; however the motorists are advised to seek alternate routes. To maintain the safety of all, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through work zones. We thank you in advance for your patience as these necessary public infrastructure improvements are completed.

Beginning Thursday, April 16, 2009: construction on Huron Parkway-Nixon Road Improvement Project. Areas affected by construction are Nixon Road from Plymouth Road to Aurora, and Huron Parkway from Plymouth Road to just west of Nixon Road.
